Design and Visual Communication II

  • Design and Visual Communication II expands the design process to focus on the designer as a researcher, strategist and innovator. Emphasis is placed on developing skills and expanding tools designers use to empathize with people’s lives, to understand, conceptualize and communicate the products and/or services of the future.

    • Advance design thinking skills;

    • Develop visual and verbal communication competencies in storytelling;

    • Expand primary and secondary research tools and techniques;

    • Integrate rapid-prototyping techniques into the design process;

    • Advance project management skills;

    • Foster interpersonal communication skills;

    • Establish abilities to work effectively in multi-disciplinary, collaborative teams.

DVCII Showcase

The topic for this class is “Speculative Design” students are taught about how to think speculatively and create an object from the future. Students apply a new way of thinking to their acquired design skills.
